The earth was ok today

the sky looked just right

and the clouds were meshing

quite nice

but

I gave it no thought


I peered through

to my backyard this evening

the bright orange sunset

caught my eyes

and went no further

I gave it no room for growth


The cool summer night

called out my name

but I felt too sorry for myself

and cast aside the harmony

of another wasted effort of nature

wasted on me

I refused to listen

and now I’m alone
